Pro Tools
PluginPie uses Accessibility to insert plug-ins in Pro Tools. You can choose between instant insertion or search-based insertion.
Adding plug-ins
In the top-right corner of the PluginPie Editor, choose + Add Plug-in
Insertion method
| Exact Match |
Instantly loads the plug-in by matching the title and channel format exactly.
You'll need to use the full title as it appears in Pro Tools for
Name or Search Alias. Example: Channel Strip (mono)
|
|---|---|
| Search |
Opens the insert menu and autofills the search bar with Name
or Search Alias. It's best to leave off the channel format suffix
so you can choose it manually from the search results. Example: Channel Strip
|
Entry fields
| Name | The name shown in PluginPie. When Search Alias is empty, PluginPie uses this value to find the device in Pro Tools. |
|---|---|
| Search Alias | Optional alternate lookup text. When this field has a value, PluginPie uses it instead of Name to search. |
| Vendor | Optional metadata, has no effect on plug-in lookup. |
Using an alias
Leave Search Alias empty for a normal Name lookup. Add an alias only when the plug-in label in Pro Tools differs from the name you want shown in PluginPie.
Insert a plug-in
You need to position your mouse over an insert slot to insert a plug-in from PluginPie.
- In the Mix or Edit window, hover your mouse over the target insert slot. To replace a plug-in which is already loaded in the slot, position the mouse over the white circle by the plug-in name.
- Open a Pie using its assigned hotkey and select a plug-in.
- If Exact Match is selected, the plug-in will automatically get inserted using the specified channel format. If Search is selected, you can choose a channel format variant from the results by clicking or using arrow keys / enter.
